Today's Rhapsody Article is titled:

You’ve Obtained Mercy

Theme Scripture

📖 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need — Hebrews 4:16[cite: 7]

Key Points In Today's Article:

  1. Mercy is Already Obtained: In Christianity, we do not try to persuade God to be merciful or cry out hoping He will respond; we have already obtained mercy in Christ Jesus[cite: 7].
  2. A Shift from Old Testament Limitations: Unlike Old Testament figures like Blind Bartimaeus who cried out for mercy, believers today are active beneficiaries of God's abundant mercy and grace[cite: 7].
  3. Approaching with Boldness: Hebrews 4:16 tells us to come boldly and take hold of what God has already provided, rather than coming fearfully or begging[cite: 7].
  4. Qualified by God: God has already qualified us in Christ to be partakers of every heavenly blessing, removing all feelings of unworthiness[cite: 7].
  5. Walking in Victory: Recognizing our status as the Father's love-child allows us to keep our chin up, square our shoulders, and dominate our circumstances[cite: 7].

Practical Application

Living out your divine identity means rejecting unworthiness and embracing the grace already bestowed upon you[cite: 7]:

  • Recognizing your position as God's people. "Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy" (1 Peter 2:10)[cite: 7] — Understand that mercy is your present-possession, changing how you relate with God.
  • Taking hold of God's provision. "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16)[cite: 7] — Approach God's presence with absolute confidence and assurance rather than hesitation or fear.
  • Walking in your inheritance. "Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light" (Colossians 1:12)[cite: 7] — Rest in the reality that God has fully qualified you for every heavenly blessing.

Action Points From Today's Message:

  • Refuse to approach God with a sense of unworthiness, and walk tall today with the confidence of a beloved child of God[cite: 7].

📚 FURTHER STUDY

  • 1 Peter 2:9-10 — But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy[cite: 7].
  • Hebrews 4:14-16 — Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need[cite: 7].
  • Ephesians 2:4-5 — But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)[cite: 7]

Thursday 1, YOU’VE OBTAINED MERCY. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16)[cite: 7].

In Christianity, we don’t try to persuade God to be merciful toward us. We don’t cry out for mercy, hoping He'll hear and respond. In Christ Jesus, we’ve already obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:10 makes it clear: “Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”[cite: 7]

Notice the language; it doesn't say you're seeking mercy or waiting for mercy but that you’ve obtained it. Before you ever knew enough to ask for it, God lavished His mercy upon you through Jesus Christ. This understanding should change the way you relate with God. You’re different from those of the Old Testament[cite: 7].

Blind Bartimaeus cried out, “…Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10:47). But through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, you've become a beneficiary of God's abundant mercy and a partaker of His grace. That's why Hebrews 4:16 tells you to come boldly to the throne of grace: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”[cite: 7]

It doesn't say come begging, or fearfully, uncertain of God's disposition toward you. Rather, it says come boldly and take hold of what has already been provided; receive and enjoy all that His grace has already made available[cite: 7].

Refuse to approach God with a sense of unworthiness or uncertainty. He has already qualified you in Christ to be a partaker of every heavenly blessing: “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light” (Colossians 1:12)[cite: 7].

Not only has He lavished His love and grace on you (1 John 3:1, Romans 5:17), He’s also had mercy on you and His mercy endures forever. Therefore, chin up, chest out, square your shoulders and walk tall! Dominate circumstances, knowing that you’re the Father’s love-child and delight. Glory to God![cite: 7]

PRAYER: Dear Father, thank you for your abundant mercy that has been freely bestowed on me in Christ Jesus. I live in the consciousness of your love, favour and presence, knowing that your grace is continually at work in and through me. I walk in this victory, confidence and assurance today, in Jesus' Name. Amen.[cite: 7]
