In today's article of Rhapsody of Realities Daily Devotional by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Loveworld Incorporated, we will discover why believers today have something even better than the remarkable feats of faith seen in Old Testament figures like Caleb and Moses. We will see how the Holy Spirit living in us gives us a present-hour reality of agelessness, health, and vitality that the old covenant could not provide.
By the end of today's article, you will know why you should refuse to evaluate yourself by natural circumstances, age, or human limitations, and instead live conscious of the eternal life and divine nature at work in every fibre of your being. And as always, we have some assessment questions at the end, with which you will test your understanding of this article.
So, let's dive in!
Devotional by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, from Rhapsody of Realities (Loveworld Publishing), October 4, 2026
Today's Rhapsody Article is titled:
We've Got Something Better
Theme Scripture
📖 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint — Isaiah 40:31
Key Points In Today's Article:
- Old Testament saints showed remarkable faith: Caleb declared at eighty-five that he was as strong as the day Moses sent him, and Moses at a hundred and twenty had an eye that wasn't dim and natural force that wasn't abated — remarkable manifestations of God's power under the Old Covenant.
- But we have something better — the Holy Spirit: We have eternal life at work in us, and the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus operating in every fibre of our being — a consciousness to live by, refusing to evaluate ourselves on natural circumstances, age, or human limitations.
- The same Spirit that raised Jesus lives in you: This Spirit rejuvenates and vitalises your body, so you don't have to adopt the world's expectation that strength, health, and vigour decline with age.
- In Christ, we have agelessness: You're forever in health, in shape, and in vitality because you have the life and nature of God — eternal life at work in every fibre of your being.
- Affirm this truth and walk in its consciousness: The law of the Spirit of life is working in your bones, tendons, ligaments, and every cell and organ of your body, continually renewing your strength to run and not be weary, and walk and not faint.
Practical Application
Knowing that the same life-giving Spirit at work in Jesus is at work in you should change how you see your own strength and health. Here's how to live this out:
- Refuse to evaluate yourself by natural limitations. "The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you" (Romans 8:11) — let that truth, not your age or circumstances, define what you believe about your strength and vitality.
- Affirm the truth of your agelessness in Christ daily. You have "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:10-11) operating in every fibre of your being — speak and act from that present-hour reality rather than the world's expectations about aging.
- Expect your strength to be continually renewed. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength... they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31) — let this be your expectation for each day, not merely an Old Testament promise.
Action Points From Today's Message:
- I will refuse to evaluate myself based on natural circumstances, age, or human limitations.
- I will affirm the truth of the divine life and agelessness at work in me today.
- I will walk in the consciousness that my strength is continually renewed by the Holy Spirit in me.
📚 FURTHER STUDY
- Romans 8:10-11 — 10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
- 2 Corinthians 3:7-11 (NIV) — 7Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 8will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
- Hebrews 8:6 — But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

When you read about the men and women of faith in the Old Testament, it's impossible not to be inspired by their extraordinary feats of faith and experiences with God. Take Caleb, for example. He declared at eighty-five years of age, "As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me..." (Joshua 14:11).
Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he departed this world, yet the Bible says, "…his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated" (Deuteronomy 34:7). These were remarkable manifestations of God's power under the Old Covenant. But as wonderful as those accounts are, we have something better. We have the Holy Spirit living in us.
We have eternal life at work in us. We have the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus operating in every fibre of our being. This is the consciousness with which you're to live. Refuse to evaluate yourself on the basis of natural circumstances, age or human limitations. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11). He rejuvenates and vitalises your body.
Don't adopt or accept the world's opinion and expectation that as you grow in years, there's sure to be a decline in your strength, health and vigour. No! In Christ, we have agelessness. You're forever in health, in shape and in vitality because you have the life and nature of God. Eternal life is at work in every fibre of your being.
The law of the Spirit of life is working in your bones, your tendons, your ligaments, and every cell and organ of your body. Affirm these truths about your life and walk in the consciousness of the divine life in you. Your strength is continually renewed by the Holy Spirit in you, enabling you to run and not be weary, to walk and not faint. That's your present-hour reality in Christ.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for the life of Christ that is at work in me. I live by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, and I walk in the consciousness of your divine life in every fibre of my being. My strength is renewed continually, and I function in health, vitality, strength and excellence by the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in me, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
