Devotional by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, from Rhapsody of Realities (Loveworld Publishing), October 3, 2026
Today's Rhapsody Article is titled:
Borne On Eagles' Wings
Theme Scripture
📖 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings — Deuteronomy 32:11
Key Points In Today's Article:
- God cares for you like an eagle cares for its young: The eagle doesn't watch from a distance — it actively trains, guides, protects, and carries its young until they're strong enough to soar. God works in our lives the same way.
- He doesn't leave you to figure things out alone: God guides you through His Word, strengthens you by His Spirit, and leads you in the path of His perfect will, even when circumstances feel challenging.
- Israel's deliverance proved this truth: When God reminded Israel that He bore them on eagles' wings, He wanted them to know their preservation and success were not the result of human wisdom or strength, but of His carrying them.
- You're not meant to depend on your own ability: The Lord is your strength, your wisdom, and your sufficiency — He upholds you, directs your steps, and causes you to triumph over every challenge.
- You're called to live above your circumstances: Like an eagle soaring above the storm, you're sustained by God's power and grace to rise above limitations, obstacles, and adversities.
Practical Application
Knowing that God actively carries and sustains you, the way an eagle carries its young, should change how you face daily pressures. Here's how to live this out:
- Stop relying on your own strength alone. "Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings" (Exodus 19:4) — recognize today that your progress and preservation rest on God carrying you, not on your own wisdom or resources.
- Wait on the Lord for renewed strength. "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles" (Isaiah 40:31) — when you feel weary, choose to wait on Him rather than push through in your own power.
- Trust Him to make your way sure. "It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect" (Psalm 18:32-33) — let that truth give you confidence to move forward even when the way ahead feels uncertain.
Action Points From Today's Message:
- I will refuse to be overwhelmed by today's pressures or uncertainties.
- I will depend on God's strength and wisdom instead of my own ability.
- I will maintain the consciousness that God is actively carrying me toward His purpose for my life.
📚 FURTHER STUDY
- Deuteronomy 32:11-13 — 11As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: 12So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. 13He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;
- Isaiah 40:31 — But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
- Psalm 18:32-33 — 32It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. 33He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

This is a most beautiful description of God's dealings with His people. The Lord likens Himself to an eagle caring for its young. The eagle doesn't merely watch from a distance; it actively trains, guides, protects, and carries its young until they become strong enough to soar.
The eagle stirs up its nest, fluttering over its young and spreading its wings beneath them. This illustrates how God works in our lives. He doesn't leave us to struggle alone or figure things out by ourselves. He guides us through His Word, strengthens us by His Spirit, and leads us in the path of His perfect will. Even when circumstances seem challenging, He's at work, preparing you for greater heights and greater victories.
When the children of Israel came out of Egypt, the Lord reminded them, "Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings..." (Exodus 19:4). He wanted them to recognise that their preservation, progress and success were not the result of human wisdom or strength. He carried them. He sustained them. He was their way in the wilderness.
The same is true in your life today. You're not to depend solely on your own ability, intelligence or resources. The Lord is your strength. He's your wisdom. He's your sufficiency. He upholds you, directs your steps, and causes you to triumph. He knows every challenge you'll ever face, and He's already made you a victor.
Therefore, refuse to be overwhelmed by the pressures or uncertainties of life. He's your ever-present help in times of need; He bears you up. He's able to keep you, strengthen you, and bring you into the fulfilment of His purpose for your life. Maintain this consciousness every day.
The Lord is actively involved in your success. He's guiding you by His Spirit to rise above limitations, obstacles, and adversities. Like the eagle that soars high above the storm, you're called to live above the circumstances of this world, sustained by the power and grace of God. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for your unfailing love, guidance and strength in my life. I trust completely in your ability to lead, sustain and uphold me. I walk in confidence, knowing that you direct my steps and cause me to rise above every limitation and challenge. Your wisdom and power are at work in me today, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
