Today’s Rhapsody Article is titled:
The Legal Side Of Our Righteousness
Theme Scripture
📖 And all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus — Romans 3:24 NIV
Here is a table of contents, so you can jump to any section you want to start with:
Key Points In Today’s Article:
- Justified means declared righteous: To be justified is to be declared righteous. This is the legal side of our righteousness: God’s verdict concerning everyone who believes in Jesus Christ, the acquittal, and a legal pronouncement from God Himself.
- God did not merely overlook your sins: He declared you righteous and gave a verdict in your favour. That is why the Christian can stand before God without guilt, condemnation or a sense of inferiority, with confidence resting in God’s declaration and not in personal performance.
- Righteousness is a gift of grace: Justification came freely by God’s grace. We didn’t qualify for it; God’s favour was extended to us because of His love, and it is based on what Christ has done in your behalf.
- You are already accepted in Christ: Instead of striving to become accepted, realise you’ve already been accepted in Christ. Refuse Satan’s accusations, feelings of unworthiness and memories of past mistakes, because God’s verdict concerning you has already been established.
Practical Application
In Rhapsody of Realities Today, we learn that your righteousness has a legal side: God’s own verdict in your favour. Here is how to live in it:
- Rest in God’s declaration. “…all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24 NIV). This is the acquittal, a legal pronouncement from God Himself, so your confidence rests in what God has declared and not in your personal performance.
- Stand before God without guilt or inferiority. “To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” (Romans 3:26). God didn’t merely overlook your sins or ignore your failures; He declared you righteous, so you can approach Him without guilt or condemnation.
- Walk in your acceptance. “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved” (Ephesians 1:6). Instead of striving to become accepted, you realise you’ve already been accepted in Christ, and you walk in that reality.
- Refuse accusations and unworthiness. “…you have been washed, you have been made holy, you have been given righteousness in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11 BBE). Refuse to be moved by Satan’s accusations, feelings of unworthiness or memories of past mistakes, and let this truth dominate your thinking and shape your walk with God.
Action Points From Today’s Message:
- I will rest in God’s verdict that I am justified and declared righteous.
- I will stand before God without guilt, condemnation or a sense of inferiority.
- I will remember that my righteousness is a gift of grace and not something I qualified for.
- I will walk in the reality that I have been accepted in the beloved.
- I will refuse Satan’s accusations, feelings of unworthiness and memories of past mistakes.

Having understood from our previous study the importance of righteousness and its vital place in the Christian life, it’s important to understand how this righteousness became yours. The Apostle Paul gives us a profound insight in Romans 3:24 when he says we’re justified freely by God’s grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Notice the word “justified.” What does it mean to be justified? To be justified means to be declared righteous. This is the legal side of our righteousness. It is God’s verdict concerning everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. This is the acquittal. This is a legal pronouncement from God Himself. The Judge of all the earth has declared you righteous.
Think about the significance of that. God didn’t merely overlook your sins or decide to ignore your failures. He declared you righteous. He gave a verdict in your favour. This is why the Christian can stand before God without guilt, condemnation, or a sense of inferiority. His confidence rests not in personal performance but in God’s declaration.
Romans 3:26 says, “To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” The beauty of the Gospel is that this justification came freely by God’s grace. Righteousness is a gift of grace. We didn’t qualify for it. God’s favour was extended to us because of His love. It’s based on what Christ has done in your behalf.
This understanding transforms your relationship with God. Instead of striving to become accepted, you realise you’ve already been accepted in Christ: “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved” (Ephesians 1:6). Walk in this reality.
Refuse to be moved by Satan’s accusations, feelings of unworthiness, or memories of past mistakes. God’s verdict concerning you has already been established. Through Jesus Christ, you’ve been acquitted and declared righteous: “…you have been washed, you have been made holy, you have been given righteousness in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11 BBE). Let this truth dominate your thinking and shape your walk with God.
CONFESSION
I’ve been washed, made holy, righteous, and sanctified in Christ Jesus. I rejoice in the reality of my justification. I refuse to live under condemnation or guilt because God’s Word has revealed that Christ is my righteousness. Therefore, I live boldly in God’s presence, enjoying the full blessings of the Gospel and my right standing with God. Hallelujah!
